It's all about the Energy...

​

Pronounced as “ray-key” in the West, Reiki is the Japanese word for Universal Life Force Energy.  Rei = Universal and Ki = Life Force Energy. Reiki is not a religion and there are no dogmas attached to it, making it truly universal. During a Reiki session, your practitioner becomes a conduit by placing their hands on or near your body, allowing the Universal Life Force Energy to run through them to you.

If you are rolling your eyes right now at the notion of "energy healing", we get it!  Reiki is still considered to be woo woo, new age, pseudo-science nonsense by plenty of people. The idea of some Universal Energy being harnessed to help you feel better sounds pretty far fetched! But what if it's not? What if we are simply in the infancy stage of understanding its source and mechanics? Scientists still cannot explain how bicycles stay upright or what actually causes lightening strikes. There are plenty of theories but no evidence, and yet collectively we accept these mysteries because the vast majority of us has witnessed lightening and ridden a bicycle.

For some of you, "seeing is believing" and unless or until you have your own positive experience with energy healing, you will simply choose not to accept it. We completely understand and accept your position. If you are a skeptic but perhaps Reiki-curious, we would like to offer a little information for you to take into consideration, including scientific data and the Placebo Effect.

Let's talk science!  

​

The “Law of Conservation of Energy, ” also known as "The first law of thermodynamics," states that energy cannot be created nor destroyed, it can only change forms. We are all energy, and therefore the core of what we are will always be in existence; it just changes form.

​

All matter on Earth is made of atoms. Every cell in every living thing is comprised of these tiny building blocks of electrons, protons and neutrons. But did you know that science has come to the conclusion that there is no such thing as matter? Quantum physics states that matter and energy are interchangeable, and therefore matter is merely a manifestation of energy. This means that everything, including humans, is energy stored in mass particle form.

Scientists had to create a new word for this new understanding of matter and energy, so they named it quanta. Quanta is both a particle and a wave. Sometimes it behaves as a particle (matter); and sometimes it behaves as a wave (energy).

​

Quantum physics has allowed our minds to embrace the scientific understanding of our own energy field and how energy healing works when we apply its principles using quanta and quantum entanglement. We already know that quanta is the interchange of matter and energy, so what is quantum entanglement? In layman's terms, when particles connect, their energetic connection remains and actions performed on one affect the other. This is our first clue into how energy from one person can affect another.

 

We know that every atom vibrates at its own distinct frequency. Quantum physicists have discovered that when two atomic waves meet or collide, they are either in or out of synch energetically with each other; they will either create a more powerful and harmonious effect or they will create a destructive, toxic effect.

 

Because our waves are always meeting and becoming entangled in each other, it is important to be aware of whether you are in an environment where you are getting entangled in positive energy waves or negative energy waves. All humans, animals, and plants communicate through vibrations and can sense whether the energy is good for them or not. Unfortunately we have been taught not to sense energy or listen to our feelings but instead to listen to what people say.

How does this physics stuff work for energy healing in the body?

​

The human body is composed of four types of tissues: connective, epithelial, muscle, and nerve. Our largest organ happens to be our skin, which is the epithelial tissue. If we view the skin by magnifying it down to the subatomic level, we can see that it's not really solid particles but rather tiny units of energy with large distances between each spinning electron, which means these atoms are 99.99999999% empty space. Our body suit, the skin, is really just superimposed dynamic energy that is in constant vibration. This is in part what makes healing energy work possible.

Ready to go deeper into the science?

​

Now that we know all matter is energy and that our bodies are a representation of an energy field, vibrating at different frequencies, let's consider how the wave form represents potential, and the particle is the manifested form of one of those potentials. Stay with us for this next bit...Observation causes a wave to take particle form, which causes the other potentials to cease to exist. The observation that changes that potential into physical form comes from our experiences, thoughts, beliefs, expectations, and conditioning. Whoa...what?!? Known as the "observer effect," this means that the simple act of observing will influence what is being observed.

So how does this explain energy work? If the physical body is a manifested form of potential in particle form - a vibrating energy field - then it makes sense we have the ability to interact and affect one another's energy field. The Reiki practitioner works with the Universal Life Force Energy to shift the client's energy from its fixed particle form back to a wave of potential to help balance the subtle energy fields and improve energy flow. This energy, also known as chi, qi, and prana, is the energy used in healing energy work.

 

Now that you have a little more understanding of the science behind energy, it may be easier to understand how Reiki works and why energy healing, in all its various forms, has been used  to improve health and well-being for centuries. Now let's dive into chakras and meridians, the energy wheels and energy transport system within the body, and the role they play in the body.

What are Chakras and Meridians?

​

Chakras are spinning wheels of energy that run down the body along the spine. Although chakras are rooted in the body, they extend outside of the physical body, composing the auric field (the energy field that surrounds your body). There are seven chakras in total.The lower three are masculine and calls to action, while the upper three are feminine and represent self-reflection and spirituality. The heart chakra, located in the middle of the six chakras, is balanced in both masculine and feminine energy and can help to balance other chakras.

​

Each of these chakras is associated with specific organs, systems, issues, emotions, colors and elements. When a chakra is blocked or closed completely, the energy within it becomes slow or stagnant, affecting the part of the body that it’s connected to. Conversely, when a chakra has “too much” energy, it can absorb the energy from surrounding chakras, as well as overwhelm the entire energy system. Ideally, we should all strive for a perfect balance and spin. The seven chakras, when spinning, cause a transformation of consciousness and physical changes in the body. 

​

Meridians are the energetic equivalent of blood vessels, but instead of transporting blood, this system transports energy. The body has 12 main meridians. If there is an imbalance in one meridian, it can cause an issue in an entirely different part of the body.

 

It is believed that disease originates in the energy body. Sickness can occur when there is a blockage or when the balance of the energy is disturbed. Reiki works to remove these blocks, restore energy, and create balance.

We all use Reiki energy instinctively. A favorite example of this is when a mother's kiss helps soothe a child who has hurt themselves. With a caring touch or even a symbolic kiss, the energy and intention of the response sends soothing, healing energy to the area to make it better.

 

Another way to think about how Reiki works is how we listen to a song on the radio. You can't hear the song (Reiki) until you have a radio (Reiki master). You then need to tune into a channel to hear the music (Reiki session). Finally you hear the song clearly (feel Reiki energy). For those who say the song doesn't exist, we simply say you haven't tuned into the right channel.

The 7 CHAKRAS:

​

• 1st Root chakra is located at base of spine:

spine, bladder, blood, feet, reproductive

Survival and safety

Overactive: bossy, domineering, ego, violent, negativity, greedy

Underactive: unloved, sexually inadequate, fearful, insecure

Balanced: grounded, sense of belonging, trust, independent, safe and secure

 

• 2nd Sacral chakra is located below navel: 

Lymphatic and circulatory systems, kidneys, adrenals,

skin, female reproductive organs

Realm of emotions; center of feelings and sensations; creativity

Overactive: craves power, sexual obsessions, ruled by emotions, co-dependent

Underactive: shy, feel guilty, lack of sexual desire or satisfaction

Balanced: friendly, passionate, fulfilled sexually, playful, creative

 

• 3rd Solar Plexus Chakra is located under the sternum:

Nervous system, stomach, gall bladder, large intestine, liver and pancreas

Moving forward and realizing personal desires and intentions in the world

Overactive: Judgemental, stubborn, critical, bully, controlling, manipulative

Underactive: low self-esteem, procrastinates, apathetic, feels taken advantage 

Balanced: Respect for self and others, confident, calm, problem solver, assertive

 

• 4th Heart Chakra is located in center of chest:

Circulatory and respiratory system, Thymus gland, responsible for hormone production and important in the regulation of the immune system, arms, hands, shoulders, ribs, breasts diaphragm

Connecting and relating; giving and receiving love

Connects the lower and upper chakras 

Overactive: Entitlement, jealousy, blaming others, giving too much

Underactive:  Fear of rejection, unloved, self-pity, neediness

Balanced: Loved, loving, empathetic, brings these qualities out in others

 

• 5th Throat Chakra is located in the base of the throat area: 

Thyroid, larynx, trachea, ears, nose, teeth, mouth, throat

Expression and communication

Overactive: Speaking too much, boring others, criticizing, stubborn

Underactive: Difficulty expressing personal truth, afraid to speak in public, timid

Balanced: Expresses self and truth, creative, good sense of timing

 

• 6th Third-Eye Chakra is located in the middle of the forehead:

Pituitary gland, eyes, nose, ears, skeletal system

Intuition and foresight

Overactive: Spaced out, lost, worrying, seen as living in a fantasy world

Underactive: Cannot see big picture, easily influenced, confused about purpose, doubts self

Balanced: Intuitive, charismatic, wise, understands purpose

 

• 7th Crown Chakra is located at the top of the head:

Brain, nervous system, pituitary gland and pineal gland

Consciousness and presence

Overactive: Addicted to spirituality, craving attention, needing to be popular

Underactive: Misunderstood, unable to have fun, unaware or denying spiritual connection, close minded

Balanced: connected to source, wise, joyful

What is Crystal Reiki?

​

Crystal Reiki is about as new age “woo woo” as it gets, right?! We know it’s not for everyone, and that’s okay. However, for the countless who do believe in the power of frequency and energy, or at least in its potentiality, we offer this transformative modality exclusively for you.

​

Scientists are the first to admit they don’t always know how things work or that there may be other things at play for which they lack the tools to study the inexplainable. 

IBM scientist, Marcel Vogel, set out to find evidence relating to the power of crystals. Remarkably, he proved that quartz rocks can store thoughts similar to how tapes use magnetic energy to record sound. He also discovered that the crystals he watched grow under microscope took shape in the form of whatever he was thinking about. He hypothesized that these vibrations are the result of the constant assembling and disassembling of bonds between molecules.

Quartz crystal makes up over 12% of the earth’s crust. Today crystals can be found in every kind of technology.
