Stress is an inescapable part of life. The World Health Organization has classified stress as the health epidemic of the 21st Century and is currently the 15th leading cause of death. That said, some stress can actually be beneficial. It is how the body reacts to harmful situations (either real or perceived) by preparing to act and protect itself. While our bodies are designed to handle small doses of stress, we are not equipped to handle long term, chronic stress without adverse mental and physical health consequences. Stress should only be temporary or connected to a specific goal or event. Once the threat or moment of "fight-or-flight" has passed, your body should begin to return to its natural state with out any lasting negative effects. One of the greatest gifts you can give yourself physically, mentally and emotionally is to learn how to manage your stress. It may sound easy, but you would be surprised by how few people know how to do it effectively. Everyone experiences stress differently. Do you know how YOU do stress? This information is then used to formulate a tailored plan to help you train your subconscious to better manage stress, respond to demanding or difficult situations appropriately, and build up your stress resilience.  Stress is not the events that happen in your life; it's how you react to them.
